Protoshares* that was so long ago though, the history is that it was the initial distribution method, then the history between there and bts2.0 is messy marketing wise, better to focus on the now than get stuck on the past 🤷‍♂️

^ +5% What the reserve fund (bts holders) are paying for is someone to A) write the content B) care enough to make sure it's accurate and be "on the hook" if info is wrong or missing C) the employee to be satisfied and compensated enough to bother coming back to work for BitShares again in the future. A happy employee tells his friends how great his job is. The deeper the pool of potential employees Bitshares can hire from the better value the RF gets on labour costs. Pay peanuts, get monkeys who need replacing and retraining every cycle. Budgets should be critiqued and altered to ensure good value for money, but bear in mind time is of the essence and action NOW is worth more than action LATER Proposal looks good to me. The team behind it have a great reputation at stake and they know what they're talking about I hope the voters decide to fund this vital work and encourage such dedicated employees to stick around into the future

Yes, the 3rd party app needs to use the beet interface (quite similar to Scatter, might even do a compatible api) and I am trying to get any kind of app to support it. In the talks is e.g. Steem Monsters, then BBF site for voting and of course my own project to build out the showcase (need more h in a day 😁, or more funding ) Could certainly push reference UI but the security increase is limited. Best would be an otherwise closed source app

Beet is a signing app, right? If Beet provides a UI front-end to hardware wallets, (e.g. the Ledger Nano, back-end work currently underway), then ReferenceUI integration of Beet would effectively bring in hardware wallet support without having to specifically support it. So I think there is a case to be made for it.

as you may know, Steem Monsters already supports a signing app (KeyChain). are you saying they have to explicitly support each signing app individually? hmm. maybe this is why EOS NY is creating an API that i'm now realizing may be intended to sit between dApps and signing Apps...so both sides just have to implement the API and then all dApps would be supported by all signing Apps. am i understanding this correctly?

A python script that takes the transaction in json format and creates the "APDU packet" to send to the device. Device communication is all python scripts that are part of the Ledger SDK. Bascially, so long as you've got the json for the transaction, it's all there in the python scripts.

I'm afraid if BitShares doesn't gets it's act up we might not survive crypto winter or other projects might make it irrelevant. It's my fear I know, but I do see how difficult it is to do governance right. Still pretty amazing project even though BitUSD out of order so to speak is like an eye soar. No matter what the reason. But again, purely my opinion.

There's not much room for bugs, there's possible tweaks to improve it like chaning the max force settle volume, but otherwise it's a pretty simple price feed script & hertz feeds have been acting as expected for months

Yes thats a good point but also a massive hurdle for new people wanting to issue assets

Good discussion about some of the risks around these assets. I know Hertz was established, and the process that he went through to get feeds seemed above board and straight forward. I think there is an interesting potential, but yes, it needs to make sense from all sides. Certainly, too me, witenesses seem like the best set of price feeds. If he should transfer or recreate the asset under a commitee account is another question. Good to have a community discussion around all of these issues.
