Well that is what it is... the comunity voted the proposals in so must have been happy with it but it is certainly an interesting point that BitShares pays BBF more for escrowing workers than it spends on marketing.

Personally, I like the idea of having another body on chain that has slightly more say over workers .. that would also allow to guarantee funding for a longer period of time ... it however removes power from voters which isn't in favor of everyone

think about an imaginary worker that pays some entity Xk$ a year and votes provide the percentages payed per "topic" .. there is huge management overhead in making sure the percentages are met and that budget is not overspent

I think also that current spending in active workers doesnt neccesairily reflect the yearly budget, if we had a better way of tracking or displaying in the UI different types of workers we could see that at the mo we are on track to spend say 2% of yearly budget on marketing and then towards the end of the year people see that and be like no im not voting in another infrastructure or UI worker we need to spend money on marketing

Core worker seems to be taking a massive chunk of this...

I checked it too last couple of days.The issue is even BTS price moved up it seems the demanded amount of BTS didn't went lower. On current price of 0.05 USD per BTS the worker would only need half of the demanded BTS.Add some extra amount for security but counting the amount of BTS based on 0.025 USD per BTS seems to be a bit low when we already hit 0.077 and are currently at 0.05

The legal setup will always be necessary, and among others if not carefully considered might end up paying way more in taxes when receiving worker pay. As to the bitUSD payout, a bitasset simply isn't feasible to support natively because it needs to be created and someone needs to carry the risk

The process is built, with one existing entity, and another is more than welcome. Direct stable coin payout would be something possible, as an IOU, then again escrow is much more than just paying out

The reason why i'm talking about it is because it seems in EU some really alternative people are starting getting hunted by governments even they didn't broke any law.An example are natural herbs tradesman. Being attecked and hunted by prosecutors for selling natural herbs like some kind of grass. The explanation of the prosecutors is that this grass has to much chloryphill and should be sold as medecine which needs to be licensed. Of course its bs and just a pretext because else they would need to close any greengrocer for selling products with chlorophill. What i want to say you don't need to provide any real reason to get attacked.If you get on their radar they will just make up something and there is nothing you can do or anybody who is going to protect you. I agree with you, and that is why I believe that people releasing real disruptive cryto projects should protect themselves with annonymity. loopholes dry up, but protection for things like gift cards is support by huge retail gaints ... they and their lawyers are a free ally in the US. we should take advantage while it lasts. People trying to build banks may as well paint a target on their back. Gift card programs for small businesses, for example, are still a clear legal way for crypto applications to progress. That's just one, we should be creative. Also, it is time to develop blockchain tech for non-financial applications — private communication tools are one example, the need for this is huge in protecting crypto people from both govs and hackers

One other project I wish I had the technical expertise to build is a blockchain identity management system ... to uniquely identify a person online. This would be extremely powerful if implemented in a way that gives people control over their own identity AND the data associated with that identity. It's non-financial (wink wink) and could be done in a way that still fits through legal. To do it right, one should remain anonymous tho. People's data is more valuable than their savings ... and it's being stolen from us every day

committee and proxies, some points to consider when evaluating who to vote for.. 1) country represented, 2) involved with a possible conflict of interest, 3) has a product to sell or get usage of, 4) has at least 5+ years of business building experience, 5) has experience with finance, 6) has experience with trading (considering we are also a dex), 7) has experience with law (especially crypto regulations and contracting), 8) genuinely wants Bitshares to succeed and has proven such, 9) has enough hours in their day to stay on top of most of the projects and topics being discussed on the forum and on telegram, etc... speaking of BitSpark, they definitely have my vote 💪🏼

There was no mandate on how to use the OMO funds once USD global settled. If the OMO was used it was without committee consensus. Each account has a multisignature scheme so it is easy to see what has happened on a technical level. I hope the community knows even if this is a gray area, this is still a public blockchain. You can discover what has happened and I hope the community will express its opinions/hold committee members accountable.

I don't. I think committee alltogether is doing a good job, minus the workers. Committee simply shouldn't have workers imo, and if it has, all committee members need to confirm taking on that responsibility which hasn't happened for either workers I think. It's hiding behind committee credibility

You be more specific, if you're looking at an user which is named anything other than "null-account" then you're looking at an user account not a burn account. You can look up ltm ownership easily, nothing secret about that.

There is no gateway supporting that, bitBTC is pegged to BTC, but it is not backed by BTC but BTS. You could trade to one of the gateway BTC assets (open.BTC, rudex.BTC, bridge.BTC, ...) and withdraw that

No. That file should -if done correctly contain your private keys. And it is protected by a password you selected. The information you give is conflicting, so Im not sure.

The Hackthedex proposal is standing by itself and should continue to do so as its simply a different scope as a one time Hackathon, also because it will take over funds from previous Hackthedex worker. I'm not sure what the solution is - ideally more people voting like Abit says, but in reality we know voter apathy is an issue. Probably it will get to the point where BEOS has this ability to assign a critical mass of witnesses as it currently stands.
