Anything can be shut down. It should be noted that a technical code bug has shut the blockchain down in the past (for several hours). Certainly, There are ways for to block content via one or more countries, but as BTS is decentralized around the globe.

That said, BTS is on the open and transparent side of things. Why would they need to shut it down when they can see everything that happens on the chain. This is all transparent to anyone who want to look, including the governments.

Steem Monsters has a starter pack that costs $10 which includes a Steem account. We have promo codes that we could hand out in a decent amount (100+) if something starts to take shape. We also have affiliate codes that award 5% of lifetime sales to referrers, and can attach those to codes we hand out. It's possible that if I'm not the guy to figure out the worker proposal for this and someone a little closer to the community does it I could also arrange starter packs and affiliate codes to help facilitate it for a person who wants to take the reins.

It has been working nicely for over a year until alt got empowered, he's the only trigger in that respect, plus such an extended bear market is certainly not helpful. In general the worker model is very much compatible with professional teams. Please do advertise your worker, some are active even without alt.

Protocol upgrade, yes. Hard fork, no. With the consensus system there are no forks possible. Worst thing that can happen is a minority fork that halts very quickly because it's last irreversible block doesn't advance

Looking at the description.... Since this is on the prediction market the ending value is going to be either 1 BTS or 0 BTS based upon whether you are long or short. Right now the price is about 0.25 so it would take a 100% (double in price) rise to get in the money. If that happens-the option expires in the money- one would have a 1 BTS payoff. This would of course be limited to 1 BTS even if BTS sky rocketed well past the price. (This is basically what is called a sometimes called a binary option.)

I am not an in any way affiliated with whoever has put forward this prediction market, but I am an options expert. So if this works the way I think it does, this is an easy Question. You sell the option. In order to sell the option I believe you need to lock up 1 BTS, until the expiration date (3/15/2019). The price right now is .15bid (to .19ask ) bts. This would imply a 15% chance that BTS will be above the strike (.5CNY) at the expiration day. If you think it is not going to go up, you can make .15 BTS on 1 BTS. (15% over the next 2 and half months) if on the Other hand you think it is going to go up you can buy it for 0.19 -actually I am going to round that up to 0.20 for simplicity- you buy it for .2 and will make 1 (actually make 0.8) if it goes up. So it is a 5 to 1 bet. Off hand, without running the numbers with any models. That risk looks about right. Meaning I think that is about the correct odds. As a European option it only matters what the price is on the final day, it can not be excercised early. (So the price might be .8 CNY two weeks before, but then drop to .4CNY (out of the money) right before expiration.

Wow Everyone! Good Find. While I like options as an investing thing, I had concerns about who was behind this. I was not aware that this was linked to the Open Ledger Hack. I did notice that they seem to be spamming all the accounts to promote it, and the hack of discussion. With this new information I will stay away from this as an investment with a 10 foot poll.

This was my point really. Are there ongoing commitments linked to the signing? I'd assumed they would just remain / sit there as legacy signatures don't at a time when they had authority to do them, then when it came to a time to renew / update or sign more of course it would be someone else. Sounds like we should really diversify and have a few entities that have / can sign on behalf of Bitshares as if we lose the only one that can because the worker isnt supported and then they then turn around and cancel all the listing they have we're a bit screwed

I think the only thing being noted/observed here is that it isn't just about signing the agreements. BBF have done that while they have the mandate to, what this worker is saying is that as soon as the worker isnt renewed the existing listings are withdrawn

The way I interpreted it was listings could be withdrawn if regulatory changes occur and there is no representative counsel to advise. That is understandable but in the real world legal represetation can change frequently and I don't see why that would invalidate contracts. Existing contracts are in place until there is some reason they would need to be changed.

This is not accurate, at least not in how common law works in the United States. Every Employee of a company has legal authority. The level varies though. for example .."personalize" refers to chart options ...to change the chart from price to market depth should've been been visible atop the chart and in a drop down menu ...having to go to Personalize and change and save are extra steps which are not very friendly ...adoption comes from easy usage not the way we programmers are use to ..

I think it has come a long way. Even though I had to change settings to be able to read the order area. Regarding (bit)ASSET, it should be uniform across the board. And named with prefix to avoid confusion.
