I think it has come a long way. Even though I had to change settings to be able to read the order area. Regarding (bit)ASSET, it should be uniform across the board. And named with prefix to avoid confusion.
Yeah ,agree ...its more chieselled ..

It would be a good design if we can choose the trading pair from the upper left corner..Find Markets is not very friendly or intuitive
I was about to raise a bug issue on this, the search function bearly works
C
Crypto Kong07:08:20 - 03 Jan 2019 [UTC]

for example I wanna trade between bridge eth and sparkdex eth ....when I wanna find those markets ....there is no result
Its whenever you type a prefix in it messes it up
C
Crypto Kong07:08:34 - 03 Jan 2019 [UTC]
You have to search for eth & eth
C
Crypto Kong07:08:46 - 03 Jan 2019 [UTC]

Crypto Kong07:11:49 - 03 Jan 2019 [UTC]
I was thinking we need to get those arbitrage enabling markets on the front page of the dex. No one knows about them and they are really important markets for bitshares. When liquid they massively increase trade activity and profits all round for everyone because of it
G
Gabriel07:11:54 - 03 Jan 2019 [UTC]
click on the asset and you'll get a popup ...search for the asset you wanna pair with and off you go ...
C
Crypto Kong07:12:23 - 03 Jan 2019 [UTC]
Markets like that need promoting, they are a unique feature only really available on bitshaees
G
Gabriel07:13:06 - 03 Jan 2019 [UTC]
we might have a script ...which scans the blockchaiin for pairs and displays the spread in percentage ...

for example .."personalize" refers to chart options ...to change the chart from price to market depth should've been been visible atop the chart and in a drop down menu ...having to go to Personalize and change and save are extra steps which are not very friendly ...adoption comes from easy usage not the way we programmers are use to ..
i agree. most of those settings are fine to be under Personalize. but switching between price chart and depth chart should not require going into settings. and neither should sizing the chart

i know it's a bit of a bummer, but it's kind of prudent for a business to tighten it's belt somewhat during a downturn. at least there is room for some development, unlike back in 2015 when the price was 10-20 times lower and NOTHING was getting voted in

Proxies voting doesnt cost them anything so not sure how they could be 'belt tightening' also given many of them simply dont reply when discussing workers

Your comment was a reply to Kong talking about the Dexbot worker, so assumed you were commenting on that

Proxies should be rewarded IMO it would encourage more people to setup. This in combination with decaying votes so rewards rely on keeping an active voter base would be ideal IMO.

yes, but he attributed it to the 400k burn worker, and there was previous discussion about the raised bar.

lots of chains they could add. all they need to do is just create an "add coin" page like cryptobridge did on their website, but cal it "add chain" or something and they could monetize it that way. lots of graphene chains they left out actuallly...

Ken has a good idea to help with that however. I haven't looked at the multi-wallet you created yet, but seems to me you could monetize it via asking for a fee or donation to add a chain. Prioritize by level of donation for example. If it's as appealing and easy to use as Exodus wallet (not very secure, high fees, but is a great UI / UX model of a multi-chsain wallet) you will get plenty of supporters.

"mutual aid" to me just means we help each other. if route 66 needs repair from here to there, then that section of road could be maintained by the token holders of that section of road and get to traverse it for free, or at a discount. if you don't own any of that token then you have to pay to traverse it. kind of like the transponder at toll roads. we invest in it because we (and others) get to benefit from it.

sometimes mutual aid can simply be letting others know someone needs help, but yes those things could be possible (if you think there is a business model for it)

Might help if you open sourced the code so they could support it. Have you done that yet?
Peerplays was open source since it launched.. the only thing that wasn't was Bookie development.. anyone could access the blockchain or the wallet since it started. Bookie is now open source though... and we have a community repo now.

Peerplays was open source since it launched.. the only thing that wasn't was Bookie development.. anyone could access the blockchain or the wallet since it started. Bookie is now open source though... and we have a community repo now.
Kewlness. I know there was no public repo while I was involved, up until July last year. That why we need to run docker instances. Actually, as I think it over, IIRC, initially it was open, then it went to a private repo & docker instances. Glad to hear the repos are open now. Hopefully your competition won't one-up you, as I know that is one of the reasons you didn't make bookie open source. You really did a great job on the Bookie GUI tho, simple and clean, easy for those familiar with the gambling scene.

I also think that the scam assets have been adversely effecting the value of BitShares. I think that the getting rid of an prevent this these scam assets would be good. We talk a lot about the need for advertising and marketing, every time somone gets scammed, we can safely assume they leave and tell there friends not to use BitShares. As anyone who has been in customer service knows, you don't have unhappy customers for long (you will go out of business).

I think BitShares should addresss these scam assets, and flag them. We can create open public standards that coins must adhere to to earn attention and interest and or ratings in the community.

One way to proactively do this is to have a standardized audit/report that every coin fills out (basically white paper stuff) (goal, puropose, people involved ect.) This could start out at a few pages, but it could also go out to 20 plus pages. (All the background information about what a coin is for, how it is creating value, why should be invest, As coins do this they earn points/reputaiton and get higher rankings.) In Phase two multiple independent analysts can likewise rank teh coins... and rank them against each other. As projects build, they get higher rankings and more public credit. This would be the exchange more friendly for new people, and provide a way to punish and get rid of scams. This requires a complicated approach much to long to detail here. But I think it would be the best way to add crediability into BitShares.

its not the first time.. we have had sooooooooooo many come and go.. many like you were concerned about how it adversely effected bitshares.. ultimately though nobody was able to come to any consensus about how to handle them other than being vocal about the fact that anyone can use bitshares and their actions dont represent the blockchain... when you get into trying to do some kind of enforcement it becomes a slippery slope

So as a new person with a legitmate idea, -Lets say you want to create a chairty coin for your local soup kitchen- we can make it easier for you. We can hae a preset written interview form where you explain in detail the complete value of what this coin is for and what the purpose is for. There could be people on teh bitshares blockchain ready to talk about, advertise and engage with you (akak stuff like crypto-connie, or beyond bitcoin, and someone can investigate and vounch for you.) Hey, I investigated them and say this. Now how this investigation is done, whether it be a coder looking at past contributions to github, or whether it be an interview or linked in background check-I want to leave that up to the interviewer/researcher (to some extent) (They follow a fair standarized form, ask all projects the at least a standard set of the same questions. So if this is done write, it makes BTS a better place to invest.

I totally agree. I think one needs to be careful. I think it needs to be decentralized. And I want to see other peoples ideas on how to do this too. I think it is going to take lots of people. And I don't think we can solve it all in one go.

If we are all competing and fishing in the ocean river or stream and are competing for the biggest fish, it is best to let the fish grow to a certain size, but it also best to get the fish before the other person does. Well it might all be fair if we use a fishing pole or a net, but when someone shows up with dyamite, or and electric fish zapper, suddenly the fish don't have time to grow... If we cann't self regulate, crypto is going to need government regulation or be dead.

I understand what you are saying. I think a quicker, faster and easier way might be to have some periodic reports that highligh this activity. Or to have a chat room where it is brought to light and discussed. I know it happens, and I don't like it, but programming a solution could be complex and costly. (IMHO)

Registrar controls the faucet.. referred work under them
Ok so what I gather from this is: Take an asset like obits, which generates its market fee in obits. Say OL sets the market_fee_reward_percent to 50. Then any faucet (Bitshares wllet, OL, rudex, gdex etc) will split the generated fee's (generated in obits) 50/50 with the creator OL. Then any account that was created via one of the faucets and reffers other accounts that trade obits, will split those generated fee's using the reward_percent value, which is set by the faucet. Is that correct?
MJ
Matt Johnson21:21:16 - 05 Jan 2019 [UTC]
So just a theoretical example with obits: I create my own faucet, call it matt.io. Openledger sets the market_fee_reward_percent on obits to 50. matt.io sets the reward percent value on obits to 50. matt.io generates 100 obits in trading fees. 50 obits go to OL, 25 go to matt.io, 25 go to accounts that registered users who traded obits on the matt.io platform.

Referrer is the person who brought the new user to the registrar (aka the faucet). Reference faucet gives 70% to the referrer

If you are a LTM you are your own referrer / registrar and will effectively get the fees paid back

Will the faucet be able change the reward_percent on a per asset basis?

Will the faucet be able change the reward_percent on a per asset basis?
From what I read it's up to the issuer.. which is not always the faucet provider

So OL would set both the market_fee_reward_percent and the reward_percent values for an asset they issued? I would think the faucet would be able to set the reward_percent

Settling of the debt has slowed - it should accelerate quite a bit once we climb another 1c
