I understand 400K worker, and agree it can be a saftey valve o keep robbers away from reserve pool. We need some type of voter incentive instead of centralizing proxy system.

Proxy system makes sense imo, kind of like MKR token. MKR holders are actively involved and invested...benefit from success/failure of system. DAI holders (BTS users) don't need to give a shit they just want a working platform

I wouldn't necessarily say just b/c he is no longer in top slot that reflects much on voters, especially since it's mostly proxies that determine the rankings. His drop is more likely due to drop in stake of many who supported him; many in China lost a lot following bc and bsip42. Abit is a very good member of this community and contributes much, although I disagree with his assessment of what is important and his ideology (based on his comments and actions) at times.

actually BSIP42 worked good in an uptrend but had to problems in my view. 1.Bigger downtrend margins not eaten 2.Quick big jumps from +40% to regular price to -5% from regular price within days which can also lead to a quickly low MCR if people borrow during that time to the possible limit

global settlment is a bitshares market pegged asset function, when there is an undercollateralized position all the margin positions are closed and the bitUSD holders can settle for the settlement pool funds & until this GS state is over the asset can't be borrowed (no further issuance). So there is the Reserve Fund A pool of ~1 billion bts Think of it as the community savings account. Bts holders can vote Every day, 400,000bts of the RF is available to be spent. This is to stop spending of the RF all in one go. Budget is hard coded to be limited to 400k per day. A Worker proposal is a promise to do good works for the bts holders. A WP details what they promise to do; and how many bts they need per day to do it. Right now, the core Dev team is the highest voted WP - and they demand 27k bts per day. Was just thinking about smartcoin creation on bitshares and how all the reckless margin positions hurt the system. Part of the problem is that there is no incentive to create smartcoins other than to recklessly gamble and this doesnt allow for a secure stable growth of smartcoin supply. There should be incentives to create smartcoins and the incentives should be greater for safer positions. It would be good if on the borrow option, users could select a fixed package with built in rewards. Ie: borrow usd with a fixed call price that once taken out the health of the position can only be improved. There could be target call prices that if health of positions were improved so did rewards. We need to incentivise responsible borrowing and stabalise the supply and overall health of smartcoins.

yes. Right now each Bit USD is eqivalent to a paper envelope that cointains 19.5 BTS. That now has a value of around 70-80 cents. When BTS goes up this will actually be worth a little more until GS ends when it will all be worth $1.

Yeah. There are lots of things we. Need. It takes a lot of effort to get a worker approved and one needs a lot of people/resources. If you want to create and article/resources you can ask around and see if anyone has budgets for it.

As much as i think this stuff is needed... the worker route is too much effort for what its worth. No ones interested in small workers and the reward is not worth the time put in to get the votes. I think its better going down the existing worker route and if there is budget available pay for tutorials to be made out of them.

A couple of things I would like to see in a Public Relations /market plan is 1) anti scam research effort. (Address stuff like cryptobridge phishing) 2) Telegram room moderations (lets keep the discussion professional, clean and polite. 3) more user tutorials and onboarding efforts 4) minnor adwords/banner facebook campaign (test small things now so we can expand later as needed) 5) official social media channels. I certainlly can not explain everything that is going on with the proxies, but I seem to have heard a rummour that a couple of proxies were very unhappy with other proxies. And they were not getting a coversation going in order to come to a satisfactory conclusion. At that point. this proxies or group of proxies, unvoted all the worker proposals and voted in the refund worker proposal. -If they won't talk to us, I will shut progress down on them and on all other worker proposals including workers I might otherwise support. This will cause problems for everyone in the community. Then everyone in the community will need to ask what is going on, we can get a conversation going and we can work through the issues . Now whether this is what is happening or not, I don't know. you be the Judge. I would like to point out that even in America, , politicians have fought over budgets and had government shutdowns. People even protest in the street -blocking traffic- to get what they want. I know there has been two very devisive factoions over certain business proposals and I don't have all the answers.

It's not the first time.. years ago it was impossible to get ANY Worker approved... with the mega lower price compared to earlier this year and everyone feeling poor from the crypto winter.... and as you noted some not entirely pleased with the way some things are going.. it could be some time before this turns around. I believe this has a lot to do with the current price and a desire to reduce dillusion.

Part of the issue is the premium most workers attach to proposals instead of discounts in the name of token price fluctuations... the problem with this is it takes away the staked component that token payment offers.. if what you are doing is providing value to the network then it should therefore increase the value of the tokens.. instead it is pegged to traditional fiat/hr billing and the network ends up paying more for that.

The premium attached is also because of the "monopoly" of developers on our eco system, I don't feel competition has heated up yet... probably because the crypto developer community don't know so much about bts yet (?) ... I bet we could do many things with the half price we are paying now, if for example we "find" some developers from countrys they get paid way less ... (India maybe etc.)

I have to also say, it would be nice if payments and worker proposals could be more stabilized. It is very hard writing a worker proposal in BTS, when you need to pay out in BitUSD. And with the fluctating prices, in bTS. It is a challenge. Sometimes workers have managed to keep some BitUSD in the bank to help reduce the need to sell BTS in downperiods. Ultimately, when BTS is up, It would be good to sell and put USD in the bank for the BTS is down. Managing that type of thing is hard, and even harder though when 20 people look over your shoulder and tell you you did it wrong.

Getting more done by overseas, is an interesting idea. However, it can also complicate things. (Many companies that use overseas talent needs a project manager adept of both cultures. It is a specific skill set, much like getting the right programmer.)

I am under the impression the funds accrue to those workers on a daily basis. I do not think it really matters how frequently they are burned as the point of those workers were created was to set a bar the other workers must past. This is a method to make sure all workers that are getting funding are approved by the community. One can vote up the refund worker to stopfunding of proposals. This stops some inflation in teh community. (and developement work) so it is controversial. That said, I will allow others to give a more complete answer.
