you are using a user interface which makes calls to public bitshares nodes. those nodes have high hardware requirements which cost money. to limit cost... each public api node serves only limited depth of data for each candle size. most are limited by "default settings" to 1000 candles of each size. though this is user configurable on the node admins end. even the candle sizes that any given api serves is configurable; though most keep with the normal ones. A few even have weekly candles

yes, but you would need to specify which market(s) you wish to get full history, should require a little bit of configuration... maybe somebody in node admin channel can help you sort that; you probably don't want "full full" history for every market and every account which is already over half a terrabyte.

At times when I ran into this, I would go to Cryptofresh, click assets, find the token, click buy in web wallet and then star it. What I am seeing now is, that no matter which token you chose, if you click buy in web wallet, they ALL redirect to OL. When did that change?

It is a very handy way to find pairings that exist, then click to go to the wallet, but in the past it took you to the respecive exchange issuing the token

Market fee sharing is a bigger profit for directing traffic to the bitshares blockchain with yourself as the referrer, i.e. it becomes much more attractive to do that. Furthermore it's a massive incentive for a gateway to do promotion on it. HTLC allows atomic cross chain swaps and more, think trading BTS vs. BTC directly on the respective chains. Onboarding of a BTC IOU into bitshares can also be made one step more trustless.

A gateway asked for it.. yes.. that still doesn't qualify it.. other than providing free features to a gateway at the expense of BTS holders... if some kind of market analysis was done that gave us a determination of X amount of gateways .. or X amount of traders looking for this.. and how it might impact their preception of using the DEX.. then we have something. What I am talking about is fairly standard in business practise in product development. This would have also helped us shape the messaging/marketing around it.

Community is wondering why Bitshares flounders while others are getting all the attention.. this is part of it.. decisions are being made without business experience or processes.. this begins with vision.. but then gets executed by way of market analysis to validate it PRIOR to putting in development time and release so that the feature/product matches the need/want of the market and the message gets recieved by the target audience and everyone is happy. :) Anyways.. I have my own work to do now in this regard.. so I will leave it to whomever it is driving these decisions to consider this advice. It's already not valued in the Committee so I don't know why I bother here.. other than the fact I am a pretty big stake holder and would like to see bitshares succeed after all these years.

To the contrary, I would say the network is thriving, approaching 20 gateways and some of them with substantial volumes. To me I don’t need market surveys to justify any development to accelerate that growth. It sort of speaks for itself. And hats off to the visionary @ronnyb who coined the 3.0 name.
