I have had it show up on the blockchain in about 20 minutes. I have also contacted their support team because nothing was happening for an obviously too long amount of time. One such transaction had not shown up for more than 6 hours. Their reply has been "Ok, it is now on its way." No reason has been given as to why, but they have always taken care of it. YMMV

From what I noticed, most transactions typically will happen during there local business hours, especially larger transactions. I'm guessing this is so they can interrupt any suspicious withdrawal or hacking attempt. If I do a withdrawal over the weekend, it usually won't process until the next business day.

Why? You are not being asked to invest anything (there is no ico). Therefore you can't lose an investment. And Dan Notestein, Stan larimer, and Michael Taggart are amongst the original bitshares holders and community members. They are transparent with their identities and definitely not psychopaths like John Gotts. BEOS has been thoroughly tested on the testnet and works according to expectations. The live BEOS blockchain will be launched and out and running for a week before the rainfall starts, so interested parties have plenty of time to evaluate it before needing to move their bitshares to be eligible for BEOS rainfall. And people can easily test moving bitshares in and out during that week in small test amounts to confirm to themselves that it works as expected.

It is misleading to call that an investment. If the BEOS blockchain does not work or has problems, you do not lose your BTS. The bitshares you lock up to receive the rainfall are held in trust by Dan Notestein. As I said, Dan Notestein is very security conscious and has better safety precautions than many bitshares holders who's risk might therefore even be diminished during any period their tokens are with Dan. His reputation from his crypto businesses is much more valuable to him than the likely value of bitshares tokens he will hold in trust for the BEOS rainfall. Jonathan Bahai has vouched for Dan Notestein's security above.

I noticed that there was a recent discussion in this thread. I would like to point out several things. Lots of people have opinions, and lots of people keep opinions to themselves. One has to consider the consequences of sharing ones opinion, the drama that comes for attacking people and there opinions, unnecessarily leads to less disclosure. We all come from specific backgrounds with specific perspectives. A web designer is going to judge a project, based on design. A business person based on businesss model, a programmer based on coding. Each of these are important aspects. We also all come from a differing backgrounds and differing experiences. I like the idea that we can ask peoples opinions about a project, get some perspective on where we should look to do additional research. This has value.

I am reminded of a conversation I had many years ago. I was talking to a man who worked at an industrial plant. The small industrial plant was in a fairly boring line or work, -making boats, power generation equipment something like that- and in a small town. The plant had a 24 hour security guard. And one could easily ask why, -as there was not a lot of "valuable" equipment and/or it would have been much easier to steal stuff some other way... Well. One day. There was a small fire, and the security guard grabbed a fire extinguisher and put it out. Something any and every competitent person would immediately do. And that was the end of the story. Except, this fire was very close to large industrial tanks. Had the fire burned for 10 more minues, the tanks would have caught fire. Had the tanks -filled with fuel- or other volatile compounds caught fire the "entire factory" would have been "gone." The moral of the story is "That is why we have a security guard." And That security guard, on that day, saved the entire factory. That made up for the cost of keeping the secuirty guard on staff worthwhile. That justified his work for years. Him being there, right when needed, made all the difference in the world.

And one should point out there is a sensitivity that needs to be handled around these things. We live in a fast paced world where everyone wants instant gratification. This is not always in everyones best interest. People get jealous. In the above scenario, imagine a factory worker complaining, I don't understand why the security guard gets to sit on his butt all night watching the TV security cameras and movies on the TV screen when I need to work lifting boxes all night. It is not fair. A manager, may well understand all these complexities, but it is hard to explain them in 2.3 seconds.

You know one can send a message from an account name that says something like Hack-the-dex-alert-account-compromised and then have a longer explanation in the memo of the transfer. It is so hard to get poeple to see and or open a message the encryptoed memo, by containing critical info in an account name is one way around it.

Hello. I tried to download my account history but it was always failed. Looks like ES node "wrapper.elasticsearch.bitshares.ws" is working properly. I guess it is caused by the response JSON format change for get_account_history, but not sure since I'm not familiar with node.js. as a means of increasing supply? Not for MPA which are pegged to external assets due to the risk, but the Norns (skuld/verthandi/urthr) might be less risky to do a wp for due to limited volatility & reduced GS likelihood
