all the coins in the market are connected to each other. All coins fall because the market falls. it is the coins that will enter the market which will put an end to this. If the new comer has a strong support and a good staff, he gets out of the falling market and climbs up.

Increasing the supply of smart coins would also help maintain the peg as the price would move less when they are bought/ sold. So increasing the supply is another avenue that should perhaps be looked into more as this is an option that doesnt require messing around with the mechanics

Can anyone create a smartcoin/market pegged asset? I'm not planning to but say I launched MatUSD tomorrow pegged to USD how would it work? The BTS set up cost remains the same regardless but presumably I end up having to tie in more BTS at some point...? Or is it more a case that anyone can do it but there is no significant benefit because you don't really get anything...?

You merely create the frame for the token. After creation any user can borrow that token from the platform by locking away BTS as collateral

Because potentially buying at $0.86 and settling at $1.14 is pretty neat, if you trade against usd instead of bts it's pretty safe. Plus if you short the peak, the downwards oscillation can provide temporary debt destruction 👍

Feels more like preventing shorter losses by breaking bitcny intentionally. If people are willing to buy it at market rates then fs will work, otherwise it'll become a fractional reserve and worth less than its reference value

If there are CNY gateways at near 1:1 then people don't need to force settle. So it's not an issue. But people must always have the right to force settle.

You're wrong. Bitassets are a derivative and derivatives are contracts that settle in a defined currency. Oil gold wheat derivatives let you settle in usd. Bitshares bitassets let you settle in BTS.
